As we approach colder weather, area farmer’s markets are wrapping up their seasons.Columbus Junction will be holding their last market for the year tonight. And to put a close on the year that was and to kickoff the United Fund Drive, the annual Chili Taste Off will be held. For two dollars, you get a cup, a spoon and a vote to cast for the local non-profit that made the best chili. The winner of the Taste Off receives the “Silver Ladle” award, currently held by Louisa County Habitat for Humanity.

Proceeds from the competition are split between the non-profits. Director of the Columbus Junction Development Center, Mallory Smith, says twelve of the 26 non-profits United Fund donates to participated last year.
