The Mid-Prairie boy’s track and field team is a young team this year, with not many seniors.

The Golden-Hawks have run a couple of indoor meets, but are stuck mainly in the same boat as everyone else with the weather.

Head coach Aaron Zander said despite the cold he has a lot of freshmen out this year, and some kids ready to push themselves to get better.

“We’ve got a lot of freshmen this year, we’ve got five freshmen throwers and four runners, so that is a great number of freshmen for us,” Zander said. “Coming in we only have three seniors this year, so we are not very senior heavy, but we’ve got a lot of experience and a lot of guys ready to take step to work hard. Put that leadership on their shoulder and they’re ready to take it.”

Mid-Prairie was scheduled to start their outdoor season today at the Washington Relays, but with those being postponed, their first outdoor meet now will be Thursday March 28 at Mt. Pleasant.

The Golden Hawks will host two meets, back to back, one on Friday April 12 and the other on Tuesday April 16.

Conference for Mid-Prairie is at Durant High School on May 3.
