The Violence Against Women Reauthorizaction Act cosponsored by Congressman Dave Loebsack passed the House last week. It passed the house on a 286 – 138 vote.
The bill has now been passed by the House and the Senate.
Loebsack said that he is pleased that the House took a vote on it. When asked how it would affect women in Iowa, Loebsack said, that it will be easier for someone who has been the victim of domestic abuse to secure a protection order.
The Act was originally passed in 1994 and was reauthorized in 2000 and 2005.
