The Washington City Council is preparing to prioritize financial spending for next year. So far this budget year, many departments are under the budgeted amounts. One exception is the police department. At a Wednesday budget work-session, City Administrator Brent Hinson describes the current budget as overall in good shape. Hinson describes the police situation as a ‘hiccup,’ and that it has involved several officers being off duty because of injury or for medical reasons.
Next year’s budget needs include replacing a water storage tank at the water treatment plant, and starting a new industrial park on the southwest side of town.
