Fees for electrical, plumbing, and mechanical construction in Washington would change under a new fee schedule drafted for the city council to consider. For example, currently, the same 25-dollar electrical permit covers both small residential work and large commercial projects. The new fees would have a more specific list of types of electrical work. Adding a circuit has a smaller fee. And they would charge for new construction electrical work based on the square footage of the building, which would mean some fees as high as 190-dollars. The council plans to discuss the idea Wednesday.
