A support group will be meeting next week focusing on dealing with diabetes. The Washington County Hospital and Clinic’s Certified Diabetes Educator Amy Martin says the group is free and open to anyone interested.

Martin says another diabetes related resource is their monthly diabetes classes.  But this week’s diabetes class called “Living Well With Diabetes” has been canceled. The classes include information presented by Martin and other experts in related fields.

The American Diabetes Association reports that millions of Americans have type-two diabetes, and many people are unaware of the risks associated with the condition.  It’s usually a lifelong condition of high blood sugar, which means special considerations including prevention of complications, meal-planning, glucose-monitoring, and stress-management.

The diabetes support group meets on December 18th from 4 to 5 at the hospital’s education room. You can contact Martin at the hospital for more information or to register for regular classes.
