The fall season is the worst time for car-deer collisions and according to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration there are close to 1.5 million car accidents with deer each year.  Steve Anderson, Director of the Washington County Conservation Board says that deer are on the move right now because it’s their annual mating season and drivers should slow down and be more alert while driving.

He says if you should encounter a deer on the roadway, the best thing to do is to continue going straight instead of trying to swerve and take a risk of injuring anyone in another vehicle.
