Elections in Kalona this year will be less heated than most others across the nation. According to City Administrator, Ryan Schlabaugh, two seats on the City Council are up for election.

Running for those two spots unopposed are the current incumbents who were appointed when the seats were vacated. One seat opened up when a member of the Council resigned, the other when Ken Harrington was elected Mayor last fall.

Those running uncontested are Jenelle Bender and Craig Spitzer.
