The Washington Demon football team goes to Fairfield to open up district play tonight.
The Demons are 1-1 on the season after a tough 16-10 overtime loss to Pella last week.
Fairfield comes into the game 0-2 after losing two games by a touchdown or less.
Washington has 291 rushing yards on the year and four touchdowns from it, while they have one passing touchdown from Daryn Seibelius.
Alan Sanchez added another interception to his totals last week as well, giving him three on the year thus far.
Fairfield on paper has a balanced attack with 268 yards rushing, and 257 yards through the air, but Demon head coach Randy Schrader says they will give the ball to the quarterback to do with it what he wants.
“They may look on paper that they are balanced, but you watch the film, they’re going to put it in their quarterback’s hands,” Schrader said. “He’s the best athlete they have on the field. He may hand it off every once and awhile, but a lot of that is predetermined. He likes to run the football, and he likes to throw short passes, and every once and awhile they’ll take it vertical, but he’s a good athlete and they want the ball in his hands.”
The Demons kick off with Fairfield tonight in Fairfield at 7:30. You can catch the whole game on AM and FM KCII tonight with pregame starting at 7. The one to count on for today’s local sports coverage is AM and FM KCII.
