The Washington City Council considered ordinance changes as part of a special meeting last night. The first change dealt with making the intersection of South 12th Avenue and East Taylor Street a four-way stop. The request for this change came from citizens concerned about safety in the area. The first reading of the ordinance change was approved and a second reading will be held at next week’s meeting.
The second ordinance change was for the drop-off lane at the Washington Junior High School and a no parking zone during school hours. The Council approved the first reading of this change as well.
Discussion was held regarding a parking space on East 3rd Street near North 2nd Avenue. The Council will discuss the possible elimination of a parking space near that intersection at next week’s meeting.
Much discussion was held regarding the animal protection and control ordinance. Changes will be discussed at upcoming meetings.
