The IMS Boys baseball team is back on the diamond tonight in the second round of district play to face the #6 Lisbon Lions at Highland. IMS was a 10-2 winner of the home standing Huskies in round one. Lisbon blasted New London 13-1 in the first round. IMS enters play at 16-10 on the season, winners of eight of their last 10 contests, Lisbon has a 31-7 overall record and has won 10 of their last 12. The Lions were crowned champions of the Big East Conference during the regular year. While the Lions may be ranked, IMS Coach Danny Hershberger says not only has his club thrived while playing the underdog role most of the season there are several things in his game plan IMS does better than Lisbon that his team can exploit.

“We’ve been used to being the underdog all year, guys have really stepped up in big games and played their best in big game situations and we have another situation like that [tonight],” Hershberger said. “We know what tough opponent we have and we’ll be ready to play [tonight].

Hershberger also said that being patient at the plate will be an advantage for his team against Lisbon.
