An accident in rural Washington County has sent two people to the hospital. According to the Washington County Sheriff’s Office, around 8:05 this morning, a vehicle driven by Deborah Barnes from Mt. Pleasant was traveling eastbound on 190th Street failed to stop at the intersection of Gingko Avenue.
Barnes’ Buick station wagon was struck broadside by a Kenworth Semi traveling northbound on Gingko being driven by Gerry Miles of Wayland. Barnes was not wearing a seatbelt and was injured along with her passenger, Rosa Barnes of Keota. Both were transported to the University of Iowa Hospital by ambulance.
Those responding to the scene were Washington Ambulance, Wellman Rescue, Wellman Ambulance, West Chester First Responders, the Iowa Department of Transportation and the Washington County Sheriff’s Office.
Charges are pending and KCII will bring you more information when it becomes official.
