A decision on transportation for next falls school year was made at the WACO School Board meeting on Monday. During the meeting a discussion was held on considering privatized transportation services. The Board received a bid from Durham School Services, but one of their conditions was that WACO’s current buses would have needed to be inspected. If they didn’t pass the inspection, they would have had to use Durham’s buses at a cost. A

ccording to Superintendent Pat Coen, part of the issue is, there has to be an actual savings to make the move. In the continued effort to be a good steward of the tax dollar, they will maintain ownership of the transportation services, but other ways to save money will be considered. The Board will use the upcoming summer months to consider their options.
