WACO will send all three hurdle events to the state track meet on Thursday. Christian Roth qualified in the 110 high hurdles, the 400 low hurdles and the shuttle hurdle relay also qualified. Roth won the 400 low hurdles at the district meet by 1.75 seconds putting him 14th at the 1A state rankings. Head coach Shannon Rugg says Roth wasn’t so sure about the 400 hurdles at the beginning of the season.

“The last two weeks he’s been running these he has brought his time down every time,” Rugg said. “He’s a kid that really didn’t like to run the 400 lows at the beginning of the year, at our Ekstrand relays he ran a really good time and he said ‘well I had my steps down,’ and since that point he’s been lowing his time and really just getting confidence in that.”

Roth and the shuttle hurdle team will run at state starting on Thursday in Des Moines.
