Banking Text Scam

Federation Bank has notified us that fraudulent texts are being sent to residents in the community saying that their debit cards have been cancelled and asking for account information. Federation Bank is not the sender of these texts, and the bank never sends texts to inform costumers of any account information. The texts are not limited to Federation Bank customers, but are being sent to anyone in the area.

Federation Bank tells us that no private information has been compromised, and the only way the senders of these texts can access your account is if you call them back and provide account information.

Federation Bank is asking people to call 1-800-383-8000 to let them know if you have given the senders of the text any information because they have ways of protecting your account. Only call this number if you have given information, not if you have received the text and not responded.

The texts come from a variety of numbers, none of which are the actual bank. The authorities have been notified, and KCII will continue to monitor this issue.
