The Iowa House of Representatives have installed cameras in the House Chambers so that live streaming video can be viewed whenever the Chamber is in session. Washington County’s State Representative Jarad Klein says he likes the idea. He says it could get more people to pay attention to state politics. He also thinks streaming it live on the internet is a good way for young people to learn about state politics. The cameras will show an overhead view of the House Chamber when nothing is happening, but will zoom in when a microphone is activated. Klein says the system is automated, so it won’t cost a lot of money like it would if they had to hire cameramen.  The video will be offered starting on January 9th when the House is in session.
