A suspicious package discovered in Sigourney has been found to be harmless. According to Sigourney Police, they received a report of a suspicious box behind the post office at around three-thirty Tuesday afternoon. After examining the package with U-S Postal Inspectors, the State Fire Marshall’s Bomb Squad was called in. A 300-foot area was blocked off as a precaution. Police say after bomb squad personnel analyzed the box it was determined it did not contain anything hazardous. Agencies assisting with the incident include, Sigoureny Public Works, Iowa State Patrol, Sigourney Fire Department, and Keokuk County Sheriff’s Office.
