The results are in from Riverside’s special election.  According to Washington County Auditor Bill Fredrick, Christine Kirkwood will remain on the City Council after receiving 54% of the votes and with only 26% of eligible voters voting.  Kirkwood was appointed to the City Council June 20 to replace Betty Kaalberg who died May 4.

She will serve until the end of the year and is eligible to file for a four-year term in November’s municipal election.  The election results won’t be official until next week when the Auditor’s office conducts canvassing.
