A man from North Liberty is behind bars after leading police on a high speed chase that ended in Washington County.  Captain Joe Lalla from the Johnson County Sheriff’s Office says 26 year old Ryan David Foust of North Liberty led officers on a high speed chase early yesterday morning.  Captain Lalla says an officer first caught Foust driving 87 miles per hour in a 45 miles per hour zone near the Johnson County Fairgrounds. 

Foust then proceeded to drive onto southbound Highway 218 traveling at speeds of 140 miles per hour.  Lalla says Foust was pulled over at mile marker 75 on Highway 218 south of Riverside. 

He says Foust faces charges of Operating While Intoxicated, Eluding, Obstruction of 911 calls and assault with bodily injury to a passenger in the car.  Foust was taken to the Johnson County Jail on a cash only bond.
