Shelly Palmer, of Keota recently received a state 4-H citizenship project award. The Washington County 4-Her won the project award that includes a $100 savings bond from the Mary Jo and Glen Mente Endowment and the Iowa 4-H Foundation. Palmer, 15, is the daughter of Jim and Donna Palmer of Keota. Kati Peiffer, 4-H Youth Coordinator says how Palmer demonstrated outstanding Citizenship. During her six years in 4-H, Palmer has organized craft centers for the Wellman Elementary early-out program, decorated the downtown Wellman Historical Society window every month and organized her church’s bible school recreation center. Palmer is a sophomore at Mid-Prairie High School
