Daniel “Rudy” Ruettiger says to “be inspired” and become the “person that’s inside of you.” The real life inspiration for the 1993 film “Rudy” was at the Washington High School yesterday afternoon to speak with 4th through 12th graders. The assembly began with video clips showing students making a difference for others that are being bullied, and a montage from the 1993 film. Students then greeted the former Notre Dame football player with a slow clap and applause. Ruettiger agreed to a reduced presentation fee of five-thousand dollars for his motivational speaker services, including travel and lodging, paid for by the Lincoln Elementary School Parent/Teacher Group with funding from a “Change War” combined with private and business donations.
