The Washington County Board of Supervisors has approved bidding for immediate repairs to Underwood Avenue, also known as Old Military Road, north of the railroad tracks outside of Ainsworth. Yesterday Assistant Washington County Engineer Jacob Thorious (Tor-ee-us) told supervisors his department closed Underwood Avenue four weeks ago when it learned that the road’s culvert had “collapsed.”  He asked the board approve a letting date for bids to start the process for an “emergency repair for a main road” into the city Ainsworth.  Thorious said current disaster declarations for Washington County should allow FEMA to cover a “portion” of repair costs.  The lowest bidder will be approved on October 12th and work will begin on the 18th.
