People in Columbus Junction now have a fast track to Iowa Workforce Development services. Columbus Junction has been able to develop an Iowa Career Access Point program or (ICAP) to provide guided remote access into the Iowa Workforce Development One-Stop system. The office is open in the Community Development Center. Nitza Lopez-Castillo, co-director of the Community Development Center in Columbus Junction says a half a dozen people a week are making use of the service, using it to file for unemployment benefits, prepare resumes, search for jobs and to submit job applications. An official opening for the Columbus Junction ICAP is scheduled for October 6 at 2:30 pm in the Community Development Center office. The public is welcomed.
