A Washington County 4-H’er has won the 4-H Premier Exhibitor Award. Ty Sexton placed first in the Beef 4-H Premier Exhibitor contest at the Iowa State Fair. 4-H Youth Ag Program Coordinator Mike Anderson says “This contest is a great way for 4-H’ers to showcase their knowledge and skills concerning the industry along with showing for exhibition.” 4-H’ers competed for $1,000, $500 and $250 scholarships in beef, sheep and swine. 4-H’ers who have completed grades 11 and 12 compete through a written exam, hands-on skill stations, industry interviews and live animal placing.
