Washington City Councilors have said no to a request to block a street for a private party. A resident at the corner of Washington and 7th wanted to close 7th this Saturday. She said there would be a lot of children at the gathering and was concerned because of traffic on the roadway. 2nd Ward Councilor Russ Zieglowsky is concerned about the precedent granting the request might set. Zieglowsky’s comments were echoed by the mayor and other members of the council. A motion was made to approve the request, but was not seconded, therefore the motion died and the request was denied.
