press play to hear from Sheriff Jerry Dunbar

The Washington County Sheriff’s Office has a new chief deputy. Sheriff Jerry Dunbar appointed Lieutenant Jared Schneider to the post. Schneider has been with the office for 15 years. He started as a jailer and worked his way up the ranks. Dunbar says a chief deputy’s primary role is administrative. The sheriff’s office has been without a chief deputy since October. Dunbar says that’s when he decided to take the position in a different direction. Schneider’s new job comes with a 146 dollar raise per two week pay period, but he won’t be eligible for overtime.
