The Washington Demon boys basketball team played a tight game in Demons Gym against 2nd ranked Mount Pleasant but in the end the Demons couldn’t get to the free throw line as much as the Panthers and that would hurt them. In the opening quarter senior Alex Vogel carried carried his team at the start scoring the bulk of the Demons points, hitting some big long two’s as part of his 16 first half points. In the second quarter Isaac Gardner was able to get free and hit a few shots including two threes. It was locked up at 29-29 at half. In the third quarter it would go back and forth with the two teams trading leads, but Mount Pleasant led 43-39 heading into the fourth. Throughout the night the Panthers had good fortune in getting to the free throw line and hitting on their free throws. In the game the Demons shot just seven free throws while the Panthers shot 26. Mount Pleasant won 64-50. For Washington Alex Vogel had 20 Isaac Gardner 16 with four threes. For the Panthers Henry Krieger-Coble had 20 and Scott Hahn had 11. The Panthers get the season sweep but two teams could end up seeing each other again if they can win their first round postseason games. With last night’s win Mount Pleasant wins the Southeast Conference title going 8-0, the Demons end up second at 6-2.
