Usually just known as the twins when talking about Mid-Prairie soccer, Meghan and Kattie Redlinger can be a team’s worst nightmare on the pitch.
The Twins have already totaled 17 goals on the season and 13 assists combined. As Juniors they paired up in nine games to have 24 goals and 10 assist, which they have almost reached in four games this season.
This week they have decided to move on with their career after high school, and signed the recruiting sheet to play at the University of Iowa as preferred walk-ons.
Both sisters, who are successful multi-sport athlete’s, said that soccer is the sport that they grew up with, so it was the sport they wanted to move on with.
They won’t receive scholarships, but that doesn’t bother them says Kattie.
“We’re really not getting scholarships or anything, but we really didn’t care about that, because we just wanted to [keep playing soccer], so it was more about having fun and it wasn’t about the money or anything like that, and we chose Iowa because of the schooling that we wanted to get, and soccer just happened to be a benefit for it,” Kattie Redlinger said.
They admitted that they had other schools look to recruit them, but their blood bleeds black and gold.
“Other schools wanted us, but we’ve always been a Hawkeye at heart, so we went with that,” the Redlingers said.
