A former Demon and current college athlete has been nationally recognized for her performance in the classroom. Greta Smeins is a pitcher on the Iowa Western softball team, which qualified for nationals last season. Smeins was among nine Iowa Western softball players to be named an All-American Scholar Athlete by the National Fastpitch Coaches Association. A player must maintain a 3.5 or higher to receive the honor.
