Eddyville-Blakesburg did all of their damage in just two innings, beating up on the Mid-Prairie Golden Hawks in just five innings by an 11-1 score. In a game heard on KCII, last night the Rockets took a 4-0 lead in the second scoring all four times with two outs. Three runs came in on a long home run by first baseman Craig Larkin. Mid-Prairie scored their lone run on an odd play in the bottom of the second, with one out Dylan Wertz smacked a long drive to left center field that hopped over the fence for what initially was called a ground rule double. However after discussing it, the umpires decided that the ball had cleared the fence on the fly awarding Wertz a home run. The Rockets would score seven runs in the fifth, before they recorded an out including two home runs, a three run shot by Tyler Archer and a two run homer by Larkin. Wertz took the loss for the Golden Hawks pitching all five innings, surrendering 11 runs eight of them earned, and giving up 10 hits. Mid-Prairie was led at the plate by Wertz who was one for two with a run scored and an RBI. The Golden Hawks end their season at 8-24.
