Alliant Energy is asking state regulators to allow them to raise their electric rates by roughly 14%. The proposal calls for the implementation of an interim increase of 10-percent, which is expected to take effect later this month. That rate would be in effect until the Iowa Utilities Board issues a decision on the company’s request. Alliant says they are asking for the increase after making a nearly one-billion dollar investment in clean energy initiatives and more reliable distribution systems.
