U.S. Meat Inspector Furlough Avoided

The potential furlough, that threatened to stall the food production chain in the country, has been avoided through action in Congress. The United States Senate approved funding for USDA meat inspectors on Wednesday, and the House did the same yesterday. Worth Sparkman, with Tyson Foods, says they agree with Congress that meat inspection is an essential government service, and should not be interrupted. Tyson operates a meat plant in Columbus Junction.
