Drought Conditions Change Across Iowa

Posted By News On @ 6:30 am In Today's Local News | Comments Disabled

A decent amount of rain last week has helped to improve drought conditions in some parts of the state, but not in others.  Southeast Iowa was able to benefit from the remnants of Hurricane Isaac allowing conditions to improve some, however in northwest Iowa, conditions have worsened.  According to the latest information from the National Climatic Data Center, all of the counties in the KCII listening area are still considered as severely dry.

Around 62 percent of the state is seeing extreme drought conditions, an increase of four percent from last week.  Conditions are set to improve in the next two months as the forecast is calling for an equal chance of precipitation.  KCII will continue to monitor the drought conditions across southeast Iowa.
