DNR Begins Lake Odessa Drawdown
Posted By News On @ 6:23 am In Today's Local News | Comments Disabled
The Iowa Department of Natural Resources is in the process of lowering water levels at the Lake Odessa Complex.
The goal is to expose the mudflats which will vegetate quickly with seed producing plants that will provide an excellent food source for the migratory birds, primarily waterfowl.
Water level draw downs are something the DNR plans to do every year, but due to high water levels the past couple of years this hasn’t been done since 2009. The period of low water also benefits desirable trees like Oak, Hickory and Pecan.
