Today is World Blood Donor Day, a day for celebrating Karl Landsteiner, the man who created the ABO blood group system, and those who donate blood.

In honor of World Blood Donor Day the Wayland Lions Club will be holding their yearly blood drive. According to Stan Meyer with the Lions, there’s already 50 people signed up to donate.

The drive in partnership with Mississippi Valley Regional Blood Center will be held from 1:30 to 6:30pm at the Wayland City Hall Community Center.
