Washington Baseball hosts Keokuk Tonight
Posted: June 4, 2012 @ 10:53 am In Today's Local Sports
The Washington Demon’s baseball team has had a long break from the diamond, but will return tonight to take on Keokuk.
The Demons are 3-3 on the season after dropping two games to Iowa City Regina a week ago. Head coach Nathan Miller says his team is ready, and that the time off gave them some good practice time, especially working on the mental errors that lead to a big fourth inning for the Regals.
“They went from Physical errors to mental errors, and so our preparation for this game and for future games is been more mental preparation and teaching the kids about not allowing one mistake and one disappointment to turn into several,” Miller said. “We have to find a way to step up and make plays and not worry about what had happened previously.”
Washington comes into the game with a team batting average of .316 and 36 RBI’s. Their pitching on the other hand has a 3.41 team ERA and 29 walks to their 33 strikeouts, in addition to the teams 23 errors in six games.
Miller says Keokuk does have a batter and a couple of pitchers to watch out for, and that the Demons will make note of what they do on the field and in the box.
You can catch all of the action tonight between these two teams on AM and FM KCII with pre-game at 7:15 p.m. And first pitch around 7:30, on the one to count on for local sports coverage AM and FM KCII.
