Safety Reminders as Adult Turkey Hunting Season Opens

Posted: April 16, 2012 @ 6:23 am In Today's Local News

Iowa’s adult spring turkey season opens today and the Iowa Department of Natural Resources is passing along safety reminders.  Bob Bellmer, Park Ranger with the Washington County Conservation Board says to remain safe while hunting, you should not wear the colors of the flag because they are the same colors as a turkey’s head, be next to a big tree when calling a turkey, and know your target before attempting to take a shot.

Bellmer says to avoid wearing the blaze orange because a turkey will see you approaching.  To find out more about the upcoming turkey season, follow the link here [1].
