What To Do With Your Leaves ?

Posted By News On @ 6:23 am In Today's Local News | Comments Disabled

Your leaves may have all fallen off, and if they haven’t they will soon. You may be wondering what to do with those leaves. It turns out there are a lot of options. The one thing you don’t want to do is simply rake them into the street. They can cause problems with the drainage. Nancy Adrian, with the Washington County Extension Office, says in Washington, you can rake them into a pile next to the street and they will be vacuumed up for you. In some of the smaller towns, you have to bag them. You may also want to consider composting the leaves. If you do, remember to layer them with some soil because leaves don’t contain enough nitrogen to break down quickly on their own. You could also just run over them with a lawnmower and spread them over the yard. They will break down over the winter and be gone by spring.
