DNR HUSH Program Provides for the Needy
Posted: November 6, 2010 @ 6:28 am In Today's Local News
The DNR reports over 7,000 deer were donated to their HUSH Program last season. HUSH encourages hunters to donate their harvest to the needy. Participating lockers skin, bone and grind the meat to two-pound packages of pure ground venison, which are then distributed to needy families in that area. Last year, HUSH provided 1.2 million meals to the less fortunate. Southeast Wildlife District Manager Bill Ohde says Boyd’s Sausage Company, Brighton Locker, Crawford Meat Plant, and the Packwood Locker all participate in the program.
