The Washington put together another opening drive score, another punt return reverse for a touchdown, and played some strong defense to beat Keokuk and start the season 2-0. Washington move down the field to start and got on the board with a Jake Redlinger touchdown run from 20 yards out. The Chiefs threatened in the second quarter getting down to the Demon 25, but defensive end Brian Roder came up with a big blind side hit on Chief quarterback Keven Jennings to create a fumble that the Demons recovered halting the drive. Then with just under three minutes left in the half a punt to Parker Turner was reversed to Kyle Roder and a big block from Nic Williams freed Roder to take it 84 yards for the touchdown and Washington led 14-0 at halftime. In the fourth quarter the Chiefs put together a lengthy drive to get on the board but came at a price with quite a bit of time chipping away at the clock. Washington got the ball with about five minutes left and the Demons put together a drive that would get them deep into the Chief’s redzone with a little over a minute to go as Washington won 14-7. Washington goes on the road to open district play at Grinnell.
