Solon holds on for win over Golden Hawks

At the state basketball tournament, the Solon Spartans held off a 4th quarter Mid-Prairie surge to win and advance to the semifinals. The Solon Spartans were up by 14 going into the fourth quarter, but the Golden Hawks went on a run and got it down to a two point difference thanks to three three pointers from Michael Aldeman and some buckets from Tanner Miller. Solon won 50-46. Michael Aldeman had 20 points to lead Mid-Prairie and Tanner Miller ended up with 18 points. Quinn Hollan had seven rebounds. Mid-Prairie ends up 19-6 on the season. Solon advances to play IKM-Manning in the semifinals tomorrow.
Mount Pleasant advanced to the semifinals in the 3A tournament. The Panthers beat Epworth Western Dubuque 60-50. The play Pella next a team they beat 63-61 in their third game of the season.
