Collecting taxes on mobile homes can sometimes be a headache. That’s according to Washington County Treasurer Jeff Garrett. He presented two tax abatement proposals to supervisors this week. Both dealt with a situation where someone moved out of a mobile home and Garrett’s office didn’t find out. He says collecting on mobile homes is a kind of legal gray area because they can be taxed as real-estate or as a mobile home.
