Washington Public Library Winter Family Reading Program

Every day until January 31, 2021

The Washington Public Library is hosting a Winter Family Reading program. Kits are available for any family and includes the parts to make a snowman at home. For every 30 minutes a family reads together, they get to add a part to the snowman. Once completed, families can bring their snowman to the library to be displayed in the front window. City of Kalona “Pop Up Pantry”

The City of Kalona’s next “Pop Up Pantry” to distribute food boxes to those in need is from 9:00 to 11:00 a.m. Saturday, January 16. Proof of residence or income is not required for drive through pickup at the Public Works Building at 711 A Avenue in Kalona. Call 319-656-2310 for delivery or questions.

Jennine Wolf Retirement Party

The Washington County Board of Health is hosting an in-person retirement party for Environmental Health Director Jennine Wolf Friday, January 15 from noon to 3:00 p.m. in the conference room of Building 2 of the Orchard Hill Complex at 2175 Lexington Boulevard in Washington.  COVID precautions include mask wearing, social distancing and brief visits.

Washington Fire Department Pancake Day

January 13

The Washington Fire Department is hosting their annual Pancake Day at the Washington Fire Station Wednesday, January 13th from 11a.m. to 1p.m. and again from 5-7p.m. This will be drive up only, with service on East Jefferson Street. No dine in will be available. Tickets are available at the Washington Fire Hall, Washington State Bank or from any member of the department.
