Celebration Hall at Iowa Mennonite School will fill with music and pie Friday evening.
IMS will be hosting their second “Into the Black” fundraising event. The evening will begin with a silent auction and fellowship. Then after everyone has a chance to have some pie, there will be a live performance from The Walking Roots Band, a Virginia-based music group.
IMS Advancement Director Jeremey Ours says they’re goal is to raise $75,000. Ours adds that fundraisers like this are vital to keep IMS thriving, “[Fundraising] is a really big deal for us. Since we’re a non-public high school, we don’t receive the funding that our local school districts would receive. So we rely on our tuition revenue, the local churches support us at a really high level, and our development work, fundraising.”
The event starts at 6 p.m. Friday with the concert beginning at 7 p.m. in Celebration Hall at IMS. Admission is free, there will be a free will offering.
