As a team, S-K has six takeaways, and are top-five in 1A in seven categories.

Regina enters unbeaten at 5-0 overall, 2-0 in district after a 48-7 road win over Durant last week. They were ranked No. 1 in the first Iowa High School Athletic Association poll of the season this week. Quarterback Aiden Gaffey had a perfect eight-for-eight night for 161 yards and three touchdown tosses to three different targets. In total, four different receivers caught touchdowns, including Holt Hinkel, Ryan Tracy, Gabriel Hegelheimer, and Kaleb Moeller. Hegelheimer ran for over 100 yards on just six carries and a TD. Hinkel returned a punt 51 yards to the house. This year, Regina scores 46 points per game, and gives up six, racking up 374 yards per game. Gaffey is the top thrower, with over 500 yards on 32 completions, eight touchdowns, and no picks. Hinkel and Hegelheimer both have over 200 yards receiving. On the ground, Hegelheimer is the leader with 62 carries for 546 yards and eight TDs. Defensively, Minnesota commit Tate Wallace leads the Regal charge with 25 tackles, 14-and-a-half for loss, and eight sacks. He’s also forced a fumble. As a team, the Regals have five takeaways. They are top-five in 1A in 26 categories.

This week, Sigourney-Keota head coach Jared Jensen spoke with KCII Sports to preview the Regals, “We’re going to have to play sound defense. We’re going to have to understand where they are on the field, where we are on the field, what areas we need to be in when they drop back and pass. You know, it’s going to be a challenge for our guys, but we talked yesterday. No one around the state expects that you’re going to give them a game. No one around the state expects you’re going to beat them. We’ve got to believe in ourselves, and we saw two weeks ago what happens when one team wants the other team worse than the other does. We’ve got to bring that same mindset to this game Friday.”

Iowa City Regina has not lost to S-K in seven matchups dating back to 2012.
