Following a brief public hearing, bids were opened for the Columbus Junction hot-mix asphalt (HMA) project at their September 23rd meeting. The Columbus Junction City Council unanimously selected a bid by Norris Asphalt to complete the work.
The bid submitted by Norris Asphalt totaled $99,081.55. One additional bid was received from LL Pelling in the amount of $121,469.25. Matt Walker from engineering firm French Reneker Associates suggested moving ahead with the lower bid.
The HMA overlay project will affect a small section of Maple Street between Second and Main Street. The roadway will be milled and undergo an HMA resurfacing.
