Applications to be considered for a currently-vacant position on the Sigourney Board of Education are due by Wednesday.

The deadline to submit an application is Wednesday, September 2nd by 12 p.m. The chosen applicant will serve the rest of the term left by departing school board member Adam Clark, who resigned to take on a new role as police chief for the city of Sigourney. The term expires in November 2027.

Additionally, the deadline to submit a petition that the position be filled by special election is also Wednesday, 14 days after the initial posting of the vacancy. It was initially posted on August 19th. A petition may only be submitted by an eligible voter within the school district. 

The board currently plans to meet Wednesday at 6 p.m. during its scheduled monthly meeting to appoint a candidate from the applications received. If a petition is received calling for a special election, the appointment will be temporary until an election can be held.
