A former student of the Mid-Prairie Community School District has been selected as one of five recipients of a highly competitive Luther College scholarship. Emily Righter, now a junior at Luther College, has been awarded a $1,000 Karen Julesberg Scholarship for her academic achievement and campus involvement.
The Karen Julesberg Scholarship recognizes first-generation, income-eligible, and disabled students involved in the TRIO Student Support Services (SSS) program at Luther. The scholarships are funded by private donations.
At Luther, Righter majors in neuroscience, and plans to pursue a career as a clinical trial coordinator. She plays french horn in both the Luther College Symphonic Band and Horn Seminar. As a Golden Hawk, Righter was involved in speech, theater productions, band, and honor choir.
The Karen Julesberg Scholarship has been sponsored by Karen Julesberg herself since 2012.
