The Hawkeye Area Community Action Program (HACAP) has announced the return of their annual Community Food Drive, running through August 31st.

The focus of the Community Food Drive this week, from July 6th through 11th is Washington County. This initiative helps ease the burden on food insecure homes during the summer months when children are home from school, and grocery costs increase.

HACAP is calling on local businesses, organizations, families, and individuals to support this community-wide food and fund drive. All food donations go directly to partner agencies as they support families across the service area. The agencies in Washington County include the HACAP Office and The Lighthouse Center.

Financial donations play an equally critical role, allowing HACAP to purchase and distribute food efficiently and help put meals on the tables of Iowans in need. Look for donation boxes in area businesses this week to drop off non-perishable food items.
