Washington baseball was shut out by Solon on Friday, with the Demons struggling to get by the Spartan’s vaunted pitching staff.

The Demons were only able to get one hit off Solon starter Brady Wick, a double for freshman Easton Rugg. Meanwhile, Washington pitchers issued 10 walks and seven hits, including three doubles. The Spartans increased their lead slowly and steadily, eventually getting the game called via run rule after five innings.

Rugg, who also started the game on the mound for Washington, took the loss, going one inning giving up two runs and striking out one. Isaac Medrano, Ty Wright, and Evan Lee also appeared on the mound for the Demons.
